Worlds of RoL
Rise of Legends™ boasts three completely unique races that you can lead to victory. In this section, we explore the industrious Vinci, the mystic Alin, and the enigmatic Cuotl. Delve into the characters and cultures that populate the world of Rise of Legends and learn about the stories behind the game.

Buildings of the Vinci

Crafted from iron, steel, and the sweat of industrious laborers, the buildings of the Vinci city-states are wonders to behold. Even the smallest of structures is a marvel of engineering, powered by massive steam pipes, huge cogs, and intricate clockwork machinery. But to create these testaments to technology, the Vinci require Timonium—lots of it—as their steam-powered creations depend on its amazing properties.

Basic Buildings

The following buildings are available to each Vinci player at the beginning of the game. During the course of the game, a player can spend Timonium and Wealth to upgrade the types of units produce by these buildings. The initial cost listed shows the cost for purchasing the first building of its type—pricing increases for each additional building of the same type.

Aerodrome

Initial Cost: 100 Timonium
The towering Aerodrome is used to build flying units, such as the Scout Flyer, Pirata Flyer, Air Destroyer, and Cargo Dirigible.

Barracks

Initial Cost: 100 Timonium
Barracks build Imperial Musketeers and clockwork-powered units, such as Clockwork Men and Clockwork Spiders.

Defense Tower

Initial Cost: 100 Timonium
The Defense Tower is a cannon which defends against ground and air units. The Defense Tower has a small radius of indefensible “dead zone” around its base where its massive cannon cannot aim at units.

Laboratory

Initial Cost: Free (in most scenarios)
In most games, each Vinci player begins play with a single Laboratory on the map. You can make one visit to the Laboratory for free. Subsequent visits require adding additional Industrial Districts to your cities. Each visit to a Laboratory allows one choice of some special technology or unit.

Mine

Initial Cost: 1st free, 50 Timonium for the second
Mines produce miners and increase the amount of Timonium that they produce. Mines can be upgraded to increase output.

Steam Fortress

Initial Cost: 200 Timonium (Requires: Large City)
The Steam Fortress builds large, steam-powered units, such as the Steam Cannon, Juggernaut, and the dreaded Land Leviathan.

Prototype Factory and Upgrades

Prototype Factory

Initial Cost: 50 Timonium
Upgrade Cost: Varies—see below for upgrade types
Building a Prototype Factory grants a Vinci player 2 Research Points. The Prototype Factory can then be upgraded into a variety of other buildings. You can have only one of each special building in play at a time. If destroyed, these special buildings can be rebuilt multiple times. These special upgrades are described below.

Borehole

Initial Cost: 100 Timonium
Upgrade Cost: 100 Timonium/100 Wealth (Requires: Large City)
This automated mine drills an immense hole into the earth and can be configured to produce either +20 Timonium or +15 Wealth. The borehole can be upgraded further to produce either +50 Timonium or +40 Wealth—this requires that you have at least one Large City in your control. You gain 2 Research Points when you build the Borehole.

Bunker Fort

Initial Cost: 250 Timonium
The Bunker Fort is a tough garrison that is capable of holding numerous troops, each of whom can still fire at enemies. The Bunker Fort produces a large border push. In addition, the Bunker Fort also produce the same types of units as the Steam Fortress. You gain 7 Research Points when you build the Bunker Fort.

Calculator

Initial Cost: 150 Timonium
This astonishing thinking machine reduces the cost of nearby buildings by 10%. In addition it allows you to buy and sell both Wealth and Timonium. You can buy 100 Timonium in exchange for 135 Wealth or buy 65 Wealth in exchange for 100 Timonium. You gain 3 Research Points when you build the Calculator.

Doom Cannon

Initial Cost: 1800 Timonium (Requires: Great City)
The Doom Cannon is an extremely large siege weapon capable of launching devastating shells across the map. It’s designed for destroying entire cities from a distance. You gain 9 Research Points when you build the Doom Cannon.

Glorious Statue

Initial Cost: 200 Timonium
The Glorious Statue venerates the Doge of Venucci as a testament to his military power (and immense ego). It provides “inspiration” to nearby friendly soldiers, increasing their attack strength. The Glorious Statue acts as a creation point for Doge’s Elite Guard (Elite Soldiers) and Doge Walkers (Light Armored Units). You gain 3 Research Points when you build the Glorious Statue.

Nullifier

Initial Cost: 350 Timonium
The Nullifer can use the Cease Spell power, which prevents the use of special powers and spells across the map for a limited time. This does affect your own troops as well. You gain 7 Research Points when you build the Nullifier.

Telescope

Initial Cost: 50 Timonium
The Telescope allows you to see a large portion of the map. The Telescope can be redirected repeatedly but only allows you to see the portion of the map in its current field of view. You gain 1 Research Point when you build the Telescope.

Timonium Smelter

Initial Cost: 250 Timonium
The Timonium Smelter repairs nearby mechanical units. It automatically produces a constant stream of Clockwork Men. You gain 5 Research Points when you build the Timonium Smelter.
